It just seems cheeky

To me it just seems cheeky of Google to advertise on Skype

Heter mechirah produce. I'm a bit confused here...

I found myself recently looking at the vegetables in the heter mechirah section of our local supermarket, and came across this:

I don't understand something (maybe because I don't know enough)...

OK, it says ללא חשש טבל (no concern for being produce from which the required donations have not been taken) alone, it doesn't mention שביעית (shmitta).

But why does it say הופרשו תרומות ומעשרות כדין (Terumah and Maaser has been taken)? Heter mechirah is supposed to make this non-Jewish produce! And if it does, where's the requirement for Terumah and Maaser?

Why we check nuts and dried fruit

I have been checking dried fruit and nuts for quite a while without coming across anything in them. Some may say that there is no reason for this.

However a while ago I came across something in an apricot.

More recently I checked a cashew and found this:

I assumed that that worm or maggot or whatever it is was dead. But then I poked or moved it and it started wriggling!! (shudder) You'll have to take my word for it; I didn't have the presence of mind to video it too.

Amen

A nice line from Rebbetzin Heller:
It’s never good when you forget AMEN (Hebrew acronym for arnak, mafteichos and nayad — wallet, keys and mobile) before you leave the house.

Not the greatest graphic artist

Let me count the ways...

  1. Interesting LTR/RTL issue - we don't see that one all that often
  2. "Logo" - check
    "Barcode" - check
I think those words can be deleted now...

Crabs?

This photo was taken a year ago. They may have fixed it by now. But for anyone who missed it:

The women's gym at Big:

CRABS?????

Ahhhh I think they mis-spelled it in Hebrew
